autumn gifts (October 2023)

"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn."

John Muir

RMNP and YMCA of the Rockies

How can one not love this time of the year? The Fall Season fills the senses and calms the soul. This abundance and relaxation was complemented by a recent visit to one of our favorite places, Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP). Pete Hunter and Ashley; Michelle, Aaron, Bennett and Kinley; Ken (Michelle’s Dad), and David joined us for mountain excursions and warm evenings at the Estes Park YMCA.

We’ve traditionally made this special trip to the mountains in the Fall of most years.  Last year Steve and Mary were with us.  Many of the photos that follow are from Bear Lake. This lake and the nearby surroundings are a must see again, and again adventure.  Trail Ridge Road is particularly stunning in the early morning or later afternoon hours.  We  may have been a week early for peak fall  Aspen colors, but blues, golds and greens were everywhere.

BTW - do you know the name of the family dog pictured here? He was the  Rasmussen Family dog in Colorado Springs many, many years ago.
